Hi all,

I think I've read all of AIIC's pages on VEGA but it seems I'm missing something. I contacted a "mentor" from the network but never heard back. I thought students could contact someone who would like to "advise those considering a career in interpreting or newcomers in the profession," as indicated on the VEGA pages.

Did I get it wrong? And now that I didn't pass my course am I even eligible to contact a VEGA member?

Thanks much!

Dear colleague,

Thank you for your interest in our material. I am the VEGA Group Coordinator and it would be a pleasure for me to walk through the VEGA material. To that end, we can agree on a date and time for a Skype conversation. Please feel free to contact me at my personal e-mail address: veronica DOT perez AT aiic DOT net

Until then,

Verónica Pérez Guarnieri

Thanks a million, Veronica! I've taken down your email in case you want to remove it to avoid spam. Will contact you right away.

VEGA, which is AIIC's "world-wide network of professional conference interpreters dedicated to helping budding and junior interpreters pursue their fledgling career" (see the VEGA website) is open to queries from interpreting hopefuls, students, graduates, newly accredited interpreters - and yes, those who have failed their finals ;).

As VEGA member for Spain, I try to reply to all queries that come my way in a day or so. I'm sure most of my colleagues are the same. If you didn't receive a reply from your rep, something may have got lost in the shuffle. Anyway, I'm sure Vero will be able to answer your questions.

However, If you feel you'd like advice from someone closer to home, feel free to contact me :).
