Interpreting is often a very travel-heavy job and a lot of that travel is by plane. Does anyone off-set their flights (by paying someone to plant trees somewhere, for example)? And if so can anyone recommend any good schemes?

Hello Andy,

I sometimes do. I've already tried the following schemes: - http://www.atmosfair.de (Germany) - http://www.myclimate.org

I've done it a couple of times through Face the Future because they issue Verified Carbon Units for several projects.

Hi,

At the latest IUCN World Conservation Congress held in Jeju with 48 interpreters (8 rooms in 3 languages), interpreters were asked to "walk the talk". So, some of them decided to offset their carbon footprint and did it on site through the Carbon Offset Fund, specifically set-up for the occasion in Jeju. I think most participants did it as well.
